  1. Aesthetics and Design

Lenovo has completely redesigned its gaming laptops and it looks completely different from the outside. As opposed to a more rectangular design last year, Lenovo opted for a curvier-looking design this year with the lid being no longer flat. It is completely made out of aluminum and it gives a much more of a formal feel to it. You can actually take it to a more professional environment because of its streamlined looks. It does look and feel like a gaming laptop but the black matte finish doesn’t scream for attention in those kinds of situations.

2 . Display

Nowadays a lot of laptop manufacturers have started pushing out the new 16:10 aspect ratio displays with their devices. Lenovo also jumped on that bandwagon and released the Legion 5 Pro with a taller 16″ inches screen rather than their traditional 15.6″ display. It actually has the same width but there is much more surface area below to work and game. The bezels are very thin on the three sides with an included 720P Webcam. We expected to have at least a 1080p webcam nowadays for both meetings and gaming because quality nowadays is the key.

You will also experience a crazy 165Hz display on this device. Earlier you only had the option to choose between an FHD display and a 4K 60Hz display. But now you will be having the QHD 165Hz display as an option as well which is perfect when compared to the amount of horsepower this laptop holds within. With QHD panels you can expect much sharper visuals. The high refresh rate will add more to its smoothness.

The display supports close to 100% sRGB with 77% Adobe RGB and it’s great for even content creators and video editors as well. The True Color panels also provide rich visuals for entertainment as well. The bigger screen will facilitate both gaming and productivity.

3 . Keyboard and Trackpad

Lenovo Legion 5 Pro’s famous True Strike Gaming Keyboard is a game-changer when it comes to Laptop Gaming keyboards. The TrueStrike Gaming keyboards are really good for gaming. They are very accurate and responsive for both work and play scenarios. The 1.5mm key travel is nice and the concave keys fit well in the fingers. Legion always had full-sized keyboards on their laptop and this laptop is no exception. The keyboard has a 4 zone customizable RGB Lighting as well

Trackpad

The trackpad is larger than the previous generation Legion laptops. It’s very responsive and responds well to gestures like pinch to zoom, drag, etc. There arent any dedicated clickable buttons on the trackpad.

4 . Connectivity and Ports

A great unique feature about Legion Gaming laptops that they always provided the ports at the back. At the rear, we get to see three USB Type-A Gen 3.2 Ports with a transfer speed of 5Gbps. There is also one Type C Gen 2 Port with a transfer speed of 10Gbps and as well as a Display Port 1.4. The HDMI 2.1, Ethernet port, and charging port is also placed at the rear for better cable management. A 300W charger is provided to power up this laptop.

On the right side, we have one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Port and one camera privacy switch. On the left side, there is another Type C Gen 2 Port and a 3.5mm headphone microphone combo jack

On the connectivity side of things, the Lenovo Legion 5 pro 16ach6h comes equipped with WiFi 6 802.11AX Wireless Internet Connectivity and Bluetooth 5.1 for easy sharing.

5 .Thermals

The Cold Front 3.0 Thermal solution on the Legion 5 Pro Gaming Laptop is one of the best in the market so far now. Their massive intake system along with the turbocharged dual fan design and the thermal intake vents underneath the keyboard makes this a very unique cooling solution that can handle heavy loads for a longer period of time without throttling the CPU or the GPU. The quad-channel exhaust system on all 4 sides of the laptop will take out all the heat from the machine. The Heatsinks also make use of an Intelligent AI Optimized mode so that you can get the best out of your Gaming Laptop. You can even control the fan speed, the voltage with Intelligent Q Control 4.0 for either a full-throttle airflow or tweak it to optimize better battery life.

Conclusion

The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is a beast of a gaming laptop packed with all the features that a gamer needs or wants. The 16:10 ratio display might be a little off at a first glance but using those kinds of displays for gaming and productivity will provide a different kind of experience altogether. The inclusion of a QHD 165Hz display on this model is a game-changer and eye candy for the gamers. But on the other hand, you are also getting the color-calibrated 99% sRGB display which is a boon for Content Creators as well.

This is not an entry-level gaming laptop. It is a mid-range gaming laptop that fits the budget of an enthusiast gamer but at the same time performs way faster than the Intel 11the Generation Counterparts in almost all types of workloads. The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Gaming laptop is right now the best value for money laptop in 2022
